Motorbikes have become one of the most important forms of transportation in many parts of the world, especially in Asia. Their affordability, fuel efficiency, and ability to navigate crowded streets make them highly popular among millions of people.

According to recent global transportation data, India leads the world in the number of motorbikes, followed by Indonesia and China. These countries rely heavily on two-wheel transportation for daily commuting, business activities, and delivery services.

India ranks first with an astonishing 221 million motorbikes. The country’s massive population, dense cities, and growing middle class have contributed to the enormous popularity of motorcycles and scooters.

For many Indian families, motorbikes are more affordable and practical than cars, particularly in crowded urban areas where traffic congestion is severe.

Indonesia holds second place with 112 million motorbikes. As the world’s largest archipelago, Indonesia depends heavily on motorcycles for transportation across cities, villages, and islands. In many Indonesian cities, motorcycles dominate the roads because they can move through traffic faster than larger vehicles.

China comes third with 85 million motorbikes. Although the country has rapidly expanded public transportation systems, motorcycles remain widely used, especially in rural areas and smaller cities.

Viet Nam follows closely with 58 million motorbikes, earning a reputation as one of the world’s most motorcycle-dependent nations. In cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, motorcycles are a central part of daily life and urban culture.

Thailand ranks fifth with 22 million motorbikes, while Pakistan has around 17 million. Malaysia follows with 15 million motorcycles, reflecting the importance of two-wheel transportation in Southeast Asia. Taiwan also records approximately 14 million motorbikes, demonstrating how deeply motorcycles are integrated into daily transportation systems there.

Outside Asia, Brazil has around 13 million motorbikes, making it one of the largest motorcycle markets in the Americas. Iran rounds out the list with approximately 12 million motorcycles. In both countries, motorcycles are increasingly popular because they are economical and easier to maintain than cars.

Overall, the dominance of motorcycles in these countries highlights their importance as affordable and efficient transportation. As urban populations continue to grow, motorbikes are expected to remain a vital part of mobility and economic activity around the world.
