Indonesia emerges as the leading country in bird ownership across the Asia Pacific region, according to data sourced from Rakuten Insight in 2021. With a bird ownership rate of 18%, Indonesia tops the list, followed by Vietnam at 14% and the Philippines at 10%, securing the second and third positions respectively within Southeast Asia.

The methodology employed for this assessment entailed an online survey conducted using Rakuten Insight’s panel, comprising a sample size of 97,000 respondents hailing from China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam. This comprehensive approach aimed to provide a nuanced understanding of bird ownership trends across diverse cultural and geographical landscapes within the Asia Pacific region.

Indonesia's prominence in bird ownership underscores the significant cultural and social significance attributed to avian companionship within the country. The data not only sheds light on the popularity of bird ownership but also serves as a valuable resource for understanding pet ownership trends in the region.
