Breast augmentation remains one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures worldwide. The procedure can involve breast implants or, in some cases, the use of a patient’s own fat. According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), breast augmentation continues to rank among the leading surgical aesthetic procedures globally.

Based on the figures provided, the United States leads the ranking, with an estimated 330,000 to 365,000 breast implant procedures. The country has a large and well-established cosmetic surgery industry, supported by extensive access to specialist plastic surgeons and advanced medical facilities.

Brazil ranks second, with approximately 210,000 to 230,000 procedures. Brazil is one of the world's major centers for aesthetic surgery and has consistently ranked among the countries performing the greatest number of cosmetic procedures. In recent ISAPS surveys, Brazil has also been the global leader in total surgical aesthetic procedures.

Mexico comes third, recording an estimated 65,000 to 75,000 procedures, followed by Germany, with 55,000 to 65,000. Mexico's position also reflects its importance in medical tourism, while Germany has a long-established market for cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Colombia ranks fifth, with approximately 50,000 to 60,000 breast implant procedures. The country has become an important destination for aesthetic surgery, including for international patients. Italy follows with 45,000 to 55,000 procedures, supported by its extensive network of cosmetic and plastic surgery specialists.

Two countries share the next estimated range. Argentina and Turkey each record approximately 35,000 to 45,000 procedures.

Turkey, in particular, has become a prominent medical-tourism destination, attracting patients from Europe, the Middle East, and other regions. ISAPS has identified Turkey among countries receiving significant numbers of foreign patients for aesthetic procedures.

Finally, Spain rounds out the nine-country ranking, with an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 breast implant procedures.

These figures illustrate the strong global demand for breast augmentation and the concentration of procedures in countries with developed cosmetic-surgery industries. However, procedure numbers alone do not indicate quality or safety.

ISAPS emphasizes that aesthetic surgery is still surgery and carries potential risks and side effects, making qualified surgeons, appropriate medical facilities, and informed patient decisions essential.
