How Much Do You Have to Pay for a BYD Sealion 7 in Southeast Asia?
BYD Sealion 7 is one of the most popular electric SUVs in Southeast Asia, but its price varies across the region.
The BYD Sealion 7 has quickly become one of the most talked-about electric SUVs in Southeast Asia, combining futuristic styling, long driving range, and competitive pricing.
As BYD continues expanding aggressively across the region, the Sealion 7 is attracting attention from buyers looking for a premium EV alternative to models like the Tesla Model Y. However, prices vary significantly depending on taxes, import duties, and local incentives in each country.
Among Southeast Asian markets, Singapore has by far the highest price for the BYD Sealion 7. Buyers there need to pay approximately US$160,323.51, largely due to the country’s Certificate of Entitlement (COE) system and high vehicle taxes.
Singapore is known as one of the world’s most expensive places to own a car, and EVs are no exception. Even so, the Sealion 7 remains popular among Singaporean drivers seeking a luxury electric SUV with advanced technology and strong performance.
Viet Nam follows as the second most expensive market, where the Sealion 7 costs around US$53,044.80. The Philippines comes next at US$41,200.41, reflecting the country’s growing interest in electric mobility and premium EVs. In both markets, BYD is steadily expanding its dealership and charging infrastructure to strengthen its regional presence.
Indonesia has emerged as one of the most competitive EV markets in the region, with the Sealion 7 priced at approximately US$39,122.31.
The SUV officially launched in Indonesia in early 2025 and immediately attracted attention for offering premium features at a relatively accessible price point. Local prices start from around Rp629 million for the base variant and Rp719 million for the performance version.
Malaysia offers a very similar price, with the Sealion 7 costing around US$38,825.40. BYD introduced the model there in late 2024, making Malaysia one of the first ASEAN countries to receive the SUV.
Buyers in Thailand enjoy the lowest price in Southeast Asia at approximately US$31,230.12, helped by Thailand’s strong EV incentives and government support for electric vehicle manufacturing.
The large price differences across Southeast Asia highlight how government policies, taxes, and EV incentives shape the region’s automotive market. Despite the varying costs, the BYD Sealion 7 continues to gain momentum as one of the leading electric SUVs in Southeast Asia thanks to its modern design, long range, and competitive technology package.
