Public trust in the United Nations (UN) appears to be nuanced and varies across different regions, according to the results of an Edelman survey. The survey measured trust in the UN's ability to carry out its objectives, including maintaining peace and security, protecting human rights, and upholding international law.

In the survey, respondents from Japan and Argentina expressed the least amount of trust in the UN's capacity to "do the right thing." This suggests a certain degree of skepticism or dissatisfaction in these countries regarding the UN's effectiveness in fulfilling its key objectives.

On the other hand, India and Kenya emerged as countries with the highest levels of trust in the UN, both registering a significant 77% trust level. This positive perception may be indicative of the belief in the UN's role in promoting global stability, safeguarding human rights, and enforcing international law. Notably, China closely followed with a 76% trust level, suggesting a generally favorable outlook on the UN's mission and performance.

Public trust in international organizations like the UN is influenced by various factors, including regional geopolitical dynamics, historical experiences, and the perceived impact of the UN on addressing global challenges.
