The global aviation industry continued its strong recovery and growth trajectory in 2025, with major airport operators handling hundreds of millions of passengers worldwide. Ranked by total passenger traffic, several key groups stood out as the leading players, managing extensive networks of airports that connect continents and drive economic activity.

At the top of the list is Spain’s Aena, which recorded an impressive 384.8 million passengers across its portfolio. As one of the world’s largest airport operators, Aena benefits from Spain’s position as a major tourism and transit hub, with facilities such as Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat playing central roles in European and intercontinental travel.

Close behind is Groupe ADP, the French operator, with 379 million passengers. Groupe ADP manages Paris’s major airports, including Charles de Gaulle and Orly, along with international holdings. Its strong performance reflects Paris’s status as a premier global gateway and the group’s effective management of high-volume international traffic.

VINCI Airports follows with 334 million passengers. The French infrastructure giant operates a diversified network spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. Its consistent growth highlights the advantages of a geographically balanced portfolio that captures both leisure and business travel demand.

China’s Capital Airports Group handled 223.2 million passengers. As a major player in the rapidly expanding Chinese aviation market, it oversees key hubs that support domestic connectivity and the country’s growing international links.

Germany’s Fraport AG recorded 183.7 million passengers. Best known for operating Frankfurt Airport, one of Europe’s busiest hubs, Fraport also manages airports internationally, leveraging its expertise in cargo and passenger services.

InJourney Airports, the Indonesian operator, achieved 157.8 million passengers, underscoring the strength of Southeast Asia’s aviation boom driven by rising middle-class travel and tourism. Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad followed closely with 153.3 million passengers, benefiting from Kuala Lumpur’s role as a key regional transit point.

TAV Airports handled 113.1 million passengers, reflecting its strong presence in Turkey and surrounding markets. GMR Airports reported 120.6 million passengers (based on 2024 data), primarily through its significant operations in India, including Delhi and Hyderabad airports.

Corporación América Airports rounded out the list with 86.7 million passengers (based on 2024 data), managing a network focused largely on Latin America.

These operators demonstrate the concentration of global passenger traffic among a relatively small group of professional managers.

Their combined volumes highlight the resilience of air travel, the importance of efficient infrastructure, and the ongoing shift toward diversified international portfolios. As demand continues to grow, these leading groups are well-positioned to shape the future of global aviation connectivity.
