Indonesia has been recognized as one of the top countries for tipping generosity in 2023, according to the latest survey conducted by CEOWORLD Magazine. The survey, which involved 620,000 local residents and tourists, explored tipping customs in restaurants and food delivery services across 177 countries.

The findings revealed that tipping behaviors vary significantly worldwide, with some countries displaying greater generosity. The United States emerged as the most generous nation, with an average tip of 20%, followed closely by China at 18%.

In Southeast Asia, Indonesia stands out as the leader in tipping generosity, ranking 16th globally. The tipping rates in Indonesia range from 10-20%, highlighting the country’s culture of rewarding good service. This places Indonesia ahead of its regional counterparts in tipping practices.

Thailand follows Indonesia in Southeast Asia, ranking 29th with tipping rates ranging from 10-18%. Singapore is also noted for its tipping generosity, ranking 33rd with similar tipping rates.

The survey results indicate that Indonesia’s residents and tourists alike appreciate good service and are willing to reward it accordingly. This cultural norm contributes positively to the hospitality industry, encouraging better service standards and customer satisfaction.
