The pharmaceutical industry in Southeast Asia has grown rapidly over the past decade, driven by rising healthcare demand, expanding middle-class populations, and increased government investment in medical services.

Today, several major pharmaceutical companies from the region play an important role in supplying medicines, healthcare products, and medical technology both locally and internationally. Among the largest pharmaceutical firms in Southeast Asia are companies from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

Leading the industry is Kalbe Farma Tbk from Indonesia, with an estimated annual revenue of about $3.9 billion. Founded in 1966, Kalbe Farma has become the largest publicly listed pharmaceutical company in Southeast Asia and operates in prescription drugs, consumer health, nutrition, and distribution services.

Another major player is Zuellig Pharma from Singapore, which generates an estimated $1.2 billion in annual revenue. The company is widely recognized as one of Asia’s largest healthcare service groups, specializing in pharmaceutical distribution, medical solutions, and healthcare management across the region.

From Malaysia, Pharmaniaga Berhad records approximately $880 million in annual revenue. The company plays a major role in supplying medicines and medical products to both public and private healthcare sectors in Malaysia.

Indonesia also contributes several other pharmaceutical giants. Tempo Scan Pacific earns an estimated $758 million annually through its pharmaceutical, consumer product, and cosmetic businesses.

Meanwhile, Kimia Farma, one of Indonesia’s oldest pharmaceutical firms, generates around $170–190 million per year and remains an important producer of medicines and healthcare services.

Another Indonesian company, Dexa Group, records estimated annual revenue between $100 million and $150 million. Dexa Group is known for research-based pharmaceutical products and exports to several international markets.

Viet Nam’s pharmaceutical industry has also expanded significantly. DHG Pharmaceutical JSC leads the Vietnamese market with estimated annual revenue between $190 million and $200 million. Other major Vietnamese firms include Imexpharm Corporation with approximately $85–100 million in revenue and Traphaco JSC with around $80–95 million annually.

Singapore-based Hyphens Pharma International also stands among Southeast Asia’s important pharmaceutical companies, generating an estimated $150–200 million in annual revenue through specialty pharmaceutical and healthcare products.

Together, these companies highlight Southeast Asia’s growing importance in the global pharmaceutical industry. As healthcare demand continues to rise, the region’s pharmaceutical sector is expected to expand even further in the coming years.
