The Most Beautiful Airports in the World
Prix Versailles has crowned these seven airports as the most beautiful in the world for 2026.
Airports have evolved far beyond their traditional role as transportation hubs. Today, many are celebrated as architectural landmarks that blend innovation, sustainability, and local culture.
The prestigious Prix Versailles has unveiled its list of the World's Most Beautiful Airports for 2026, recognizing seven outstanding airports and terminals that redefine the passenger experience through exceptional design and environmental awareness.
Leading the list is Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 3 in China. Inspired by Guangzhou's nickname, the "City of Flowers," the terminal features elegant floral motifs, rooftop gardens, and spacious interiors filled with natural light. The design creates a welcoming atmosphere while showcasing the region's cultural identity.
Germany's Frankfurt Airport Terminal 3 is another architectural masterpiece. Designed to resemble a vibrant urban district rather than a conventional airport, the terminal features open plazas, public art installations, and modern amenities that encourage travelers to relax and explore before their flights.
India earned two places on the prestigious list. Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport Terminal 2 in Guwahati celebrates the culture of Assam through bamboo-inspired architecture, flowing ceiling patterns, and lush indoor greenery.
Meanwhile, Navi Mumbai International Airport Terminal 1 impresses visitors with its iconic lotus-inspired roof, sculptural columns, and abundant natural light, creating a striking and memorable gateway to the city.
Representing Cambodia is Techo International Airport, located near Phnom Penh. Designed by Foster + Partners, the airport combines traditional Cambodian architectural influences with modern sustainability features. Its woven roof structure, tree-like columns, and energy-efficient ventilation demonstrate how innovative design can work in harmony with the local climate.
The United States is represented by two exceptional airports. Pittsburgh International Airport draws inspiration from Pennsylvania's rolling hills, featuring sweeping rooflines, expansive windows, and abundant natural light.
San Diego International Airport Terminal 1 complements its coastal setting with a graceful curved glass façade, regional artwork, and environmentally friendly construction that enhances both beauty and passenger comfort.
The 2026 Prix Versailles selection demonstrates that airports are becoming destinations in their own right. By combining cultural heritage, sustainable architecture, and world-class passenger experiences, these seven airports set new global standards for design excellence and illustrate how infrastructure can inspire travelers from the moment they arrive.
