Instant noodles have evolved from a simple convenience food into a global culinary phenomenon. In 2026, Smarter Ranking highlighted seven instant noodle products from South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, and the United States for their combination of taste, texture, value, availability, and reputation.

At the top of the list is Nongshim Shin Ramyun from South Korea, which received a score of 89/100. Known for its rich, spicy beef-style broth and chewy noodles, Shin Ramyun has become one of Korea’s most recognizable instant noodle products. Its strong flavor and satisfying texture helped it claim the highest position on the 2026 list.

Coming in second is Indonesia’s Indomie Mie Goreng, with a score of 87/100. Unlike traditional soup noodles, Mie Goreng is served dry and combines sweet, savory, and mildly spicy flavors with seasoned oil and fried onions. Smarter Ranking also recognized it as the leading fried instant noodle on the list.

Third place goes to South Korea’s Samyang Buldak, scoring 86/100. Famous for its intense heat and bold savory flavor, Buldak has gained international attention through spicy-food challenges and social media. Its thick, chewy noodles are designed to hold onto the powerful sauce.

In fourth place is Nongshim Chapagetti, also from South Korea, with 85/100. Inspired by Korean-style jjajang noodles, Chapagetti offers a distinctive black-bean-based sauce with a rich, savory and slightly sweet character.

Japan contributes two entries. Sapporo Ichiban ranks fifth with 83/100, appreciated for its balanced and comforting broth. Nissin Cup Noodles follows in sixth with 81/100, combining familiar flavor with the convenience of preparation directly in its cup.

Completing the seven is Maruchan Ramen from the United States, which scored 78/100. Its major strengths include affordability and widespread availability, making it a familiar choice for consumers seeking a quick and inexpensive meal.

Together, these seven products demonstrate how diverse the instant-noodle world has become. From spicy Korean ramyun and Indonesian fried noodles to Japanese ramen and American-style convenience noodles, the Smarter Ranking 2026 list reflects a variety of flavors and culinary traditions enjoyed around the globe.
