E-commerce continues to reshape the global retail landscape, with online shopping becoming an essential part of consumer behavior.

According to ECDB E-Commerce Data & Analytics 2025, the world's ten largest e-commerce markets generated trillions of dollars in online retail revenue, highlighting the dominance of Asia and North America while also showcasing the continued strength of major European economies.

Together, these markets account for the vast majority of global e-commerce sales and set the pace for digital commerce innovation.

China remains the world's largest e-commerce market by a significant margin, with an estimated market size of US$3.02 trillion. The country's leadership is driven by its massive online consumer base, advanced logistics networks, and the success of leading digital marketplaces.

The United States ranks second with US$1.16 trillion, supported by high consumer spending, widespread internet access, and a mature online retail ecosystem.

The United Kingdom ranks third with US$197 billion, reflecting one of the highest levels of online shopping adoption in Europe. Japan follows closely with US$193 billion, where consumers value convenience, quality, and efficient delivery services.

South Korea, with US$147 billion, has built one of the world's most technologically advanced e-commerce sectors, supported by fast internet connectivity and same-day delivery services.

India is the sixth-largest market, generating US$119 billion in online sales. Its rapid digital transformation, increasing smartphone usage, and expanding middle class continue to fuel remarkable growth.

Germany ranks seventh with US$97 billion, maintaining its position as Europe's largest economy and a major online retail market. Indonesia shares the same market size of US$97 billion, making it Southeast Asia's largest e-commerce economy thanks to its young population, growing digital payments ecosystem, and expanding marketplace platforms.

Rounding out the top ten are Canada, with an e-commerce market worth US$84 billion, and France, with US$79 billion.

Both countries continue to experience steady growth as consumers increasingly embrace online shopping across a wide range of product categories. Their mature digital infrastructure and reliable payment systems contribute to sustained expansion in the online retail sector.
