While alcoholic beverages are commonly served on many international flights, several airlines around the world maintain strict no-alcohol policies onboard their aircraft. These airlines, often referred to as “dry airlines,” avoid serving alcohol for religious, cultural, or legal reasons.

Most of them are based in Muslim-majority countries where Islamic principles discourage or prohibit alcohol consumption. Despite not offering alcoholic drinks, these airlines continue to provide high-quality service, halal meals, and a comfortable travel experience for millions of passengers each year.

Among the best-known dry airlines is Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia. The airline strictly prohibits alcohol on all domestic and international flights, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s national laws and religious values.

Similarly, Kuwait Airways does not serve alcohol and also restricts passengers from carrying alcoholic beverages onboard.

Iranian carriers such as Iran Air and Mahan Air also operate alcohol-free flights. Since alcohol is prohibited under Iranian law, these airlines maintain strict compliance with national regulations.

Another notable dry airline is Royal Brunei Airlines, which does not serve alcohol onboard any flight. However, non-Muslim passengers may sometimes bring limited amounts of their own alcohol for personal consumption, depending on regulations and crew approval.

Other airlines with alcohol-free policies include EgyptAir, Air Arabia, and Iraqi Airways and Jazeera Airways, a low-cost Kuwaiti airline. These airlines focus on providing family-friendly environments and culturally appropriate services for passengers.

In South Asia, Pakistan International Airlines follows a similar policy, banning alcohol service and consumption during flights. Biman Bangladesh Airways also avoids serving alcohol on its flights.

Although some travelers may associate flying with wine or cocktails, many passengers appreciate alcohol-free cabins for religious, personal, or health reasons. These airlines often emphasize hospitality through premium non-alcoholic beverages, traditional drinks, and halal cuisine instead.

Their popularity demonstrates that quality air travel does not necessarily depend on serving alcohol. As international travel continues to grow, dry airlines remain an important part of the global aviation industry, offering services that align with the beliefs and preferences of diverse travelers worldwide.
