Medical tourism has become an increasingly popular global trend as more people travel abroad to seek quality healthcare, specialised medical treatments, affordable procedures, and advanced medical technologies.

With rising healthcare costs and long waiting times in many countries, international patients are exploring destinations that offer excellent medical services combined with comfortable travel and recovery experiences. According to Travel and Tour World's (TTW) 2026 rankings, ten countries stand out as the world's leading medical tourism destinations.

Taking the top position is Turkey, which has established itself as a major international healthcare hub. The country attracts patients seeking cosmetic surgery, hair transplantation, dental treatments, fertility services, and specialised medical procedures.

Its modern hospitals, experienced specialists, competitive prices, and convenient international connections make it an attractive destination for medical travellers.

In second place is Thailand, widely recognised for its internationally recognised hospitals, experienced doctors, affordable treatments, and excellent hospitality services. The country is particularly popular for cosmetic surgery, dental care, orthopaedics, cardiology, and wellness treatments.

Meanwhile, India secures third place, offering cost-effective healthcare, advanced surgical facilities, and specialised treatments in areas such as cardiology, oncology, and organ transplantation.

Ranked fourth is Mexico, which benefits from its geographical proximity to the United States and Canada. It attracts international patients through affordable dental care, cosmetic procedures, and specialised medical services.

Following closely in fifth place is South Korea, a destination particularly famous for cosmetic surgery, dermatology, advanced medical technology, and innovative healthcare solutions.

The sixth position belongs to Malaysia, which has developed a strong reputation for its modern hospitals, coordinated international patient services, and affordable specialist treatments. Next is Costa Rica, ranked seventh, attracting medical travellers through competitive healthcare costs, dental procedures, cosmetic surgery, and wellness services.

In eighth place is Singapore, internationally recognised for its advanced medical technology, highly qualified specialists, modern hospitals, and premium healthcare services. Although treatment costs can be higher than in other destinations, Singapore remains an attractive choice for patients seeking specialised and sophisticated medical care.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) takes ninth place, supported by substantial investments in modern healthcare infrastructure, internationally connected hospitals, and premium medical facilities.

Completing the top ten is Colombia, which continues to strengthen its position through affordable cosmetic surgery, dental treatments, specialised healthcare, and experienced medical professionals.
