Asia continues to offer an incredible variety of travel experiences, from vibrant cities to scenic mountain retreats. According to Agoda, the region's fastest-rising destinations in 2025 are those that recorded the greatest improvement in international booking rankings compared with the previous year.

These destinations are attracting growing numbers of overseas visitors thanks to their unique attractions, cultural heritage, natural beauty, and expanding tourism infrastructure.

Leading the list is Sa Pa, Vietnam, which achieved the biggest rise among emerging destinations. The mountain town climbed from 66th place in 2024 to 51st in 2025, a remarkable improvement of 15 positions.

Nestled in the Hoàng Liên Son Mountains, Sa Pa is famous for its spectacular rice terraces, cool climate, and rich ethnic diversity. Improved transportation links and increasing international awareness have helped transform the town into one of Vietnam's most sought-after travel destinations.

Second is Okayama, Japan, which advanced from 97th to 84th place, gaining 13 positions. Often referred to as the "Land of Sunshine" because of its mild weather, Okayama is renowned for attractions such as Korakuen Garden, Okayama Castle, and the nearby art destination of Naoshima.

Visitors are increasingly discovering the prefecture as an alternative to Japan's more crowded tourist hotspots.

Indonesia's Bandung ranks third after moving from 94th to 83rd place, an increase of 11 positions. Located in the highlands of West Java, Bandung has long been popular with domestic travelers for its cool climate, culinary scene, shopping outlets, and surrounding volcanic landscapes.

Growing international interest reflects the city's expanding appeal as a cultural and lifestyle destination.

The final two places are occupied by Japanese cities. Matsuyama climbed from 78th to 69th place, while Takamatsu improved from 81st to 72nd, with both destinations rising nine positions. Matsuyama is best known for Dogo Onsen, one of Japan's oldest hot spring resorts, as well as the historic Matsuyama Castle.

Takamatsu, located on the island of Shikoku, is celebrated for the beautiful Ritsurin Garden, excellent Sanuki udon cuisine, and easy access to the art islands of the Seto Inland Sea.

These five destinations highlight changing travel preferences across Asia. Rather than focusing solely on major metropolitan centers, many international travelers are seeking authentic local culture, scenic landscapes, and less crowded experiences.

Agoda's 2025 rankings suggest that emerging destinations with distinctive identities and improved accessibility are becoming increasingly popular, reflecting a broader trend toward more diverse and meaningful travel throughout the region.
