Where People Still Believe in Their Country’s Economy
Saudi Arabians have the highest trust in their country's economy with 86%.
People’s confidence in their national economy varies considerably around the world. According to data from Statista Consumer Insights, some countries stand out for having relatively high shares of people who view their country’s economic situation positively, while others show much lower levels of confidence.
The figures provide an interesting snapshot of how economic conditions are perceived by people in different parts of the world.
Saudi Arabia records the highest level of positive sentiment among the countries listed, with 86% of respondents expressing confidence in their country’s economy. China follows with 77%, while India records 68%. These figures suggest that positive perceptions of economic conditions are particularly strong among respondents in these three countries.
Confidence is lower but remains notable in Indonesia, where 42% of respondents view the economic situation positively. Australia follows at 37%, closely followed by the United States at 36%. Germany records 33%, meaning roughly one in three respondents there has a positive assessment of the national economy.
The remaining countries in the list have lower levels of positive economic sentiment. In Brazil, 27% of respondents evaluate the economic situation positively, while the figure falls to 25% in South Africa. France has the lowest percentage among the countries listed, at 19%.
The differences between these countries highlight how economic confidence can vary significantly across regions. The figures should not be interpreted simply as a measurement of actual economic performance.
Rather, they reflect how respondents perceive the economic situation in their own countries at the time of the survey. Factors such as inflation, employment, household finances, economic growth and expectations about the future can all shape public perceptions.
The results also reveal a broad geographical pattern: the highest levels of positive sentiment in this group are found in Saudi Arabia, China and India, while several Western economies record lower percentages.
Statista's reporting similarly notes that U.S. respondents showed relatively limited enthusiasm about their country's economic situation, with 36% giving a positive assessment.
Overall, the data demonstrate that economic confidence is not uniform around the world. From 86% in Saudi Arabia to 19% in France, the wide gap illustrates the different ways people experience and perceive their national economies.
